Autism Brown Bag Dinner Series
Parents, professionals, students, and concerned individuals are always welcome.
The topics presented and discussed during the spring semester included the following topics: 

  •  Emerging from Emergence: Tracing Representations of Autism Spectrum Disorders Across 40 years of Contemporary Literature and Film, Christofer C. Foss, Ph.D.
  • Autistic Self-Advocacy and the Neurodiversity Movement: Perspectives and Implications for the Autism Community, Ari Neeman, President of the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network.
  • Getting to Acceptance, Panel Discussion on Autism, Featuring Various Invited Guests.
  • The Special Needs Family, Tim Sweeney, Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Past Presentations

Camp Soaring Eagle (CSE)
Camp Soaring Eagle is a camp for special needs children and is held each June in collaboration with Quantico MCCC. Many faculty and students volunteered at this camp.
Drs. Nicole Myers and Sharon Teabo direct the camp each year along with Heather DeCou, a Stafford Campus student.  
Jennifer Jakubecy from the Fredericksburg campus added her students to the camp as counselors along with students in INDT 531 (Emerging and Assistive Technologies) class.
